Applications to the codices

FEASIBILITY

We fist have to verify that the sidelenghts given in the Milcocolli can indeed forms polygons, that is, no side is larger than
the sum of the others. This is indeed the case.

ACCURACY

The next problem is to determine if the corresponding areas recorded in the Tlahuelmantli are correct.
The first observation is that it is NOT possible to determine the accuracy as such because there is no information about
angles or diagonals and the fields are not drawn to scale. The only thing we can determine is whether the areas are between the maximum and the minimum possible values. If this si the case the areas are plausible.

The maximum areas were computed (the minima were not needed) and most areas turned out to be plausible or almost plausible,
that is, with an area slightly above the maximum.
One possible explanation could be the use of the Surveyor's Rule which approximates of area of an irregular quadrilateral
with sides
a,b,c,d by (a+c)/2 x (b+d)/2
which overestimates the area.
